[01] PM Tsipras speaks of the right to education for everyoneThe right to knowledge is sacred and the government has an obligation to ensure that is offered to all Greeks, to all children, regardless to what God they believe in, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said in his speech to 635 pupils of the minority high school in Xanthi."I am asking you from my heart to love school and knowledge. So today I decided to visit your school to mark that our knowledge, our schools will be a priority. And not divide children according to the God they believe in, not divide children between minority and majority, because all of our children are the same and have equal rights. You are all Greek citizens and the state is obliged to give you everything, all the equipment needs in order to prosper," he added. [02] PM Tsipras speaks on the phone with EU Commission president JunckerBRUSSELS (ANA/Ch. Vassilaki) - European Commission president Jean Claude Juncker and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke on the phone on Friday on the course of the programme and the progress made in the second review, Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said.Schinas said that it was a "useful" and "constructive" discussion as the second programme review is about to be concluded especially ahead of EU Commissioner Pierre Moscovici's visit to Athens next Monday. He added that it was a good opportunity for the two men to discuss the Greek issue and evaluate the progress made in the implementation of the programme."The efforts of Juncker to keep Greece in the eurozone are well known," Schinas underlined. [03] President Pavlopoulos meets with Czech president of House of Representatives XamacekPresident of Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos asked for the European partners solidarity to the refugees issue during his meeting on Friday with the Czech Republic's House of Representatives president Jan Xamacek at the Presidential mansion.Pavlopoulos said that Greece meets its commitmets and called on the other European partners to show their solidarity to the refugees issue. He noted that some Europeans have objections on the way Greece deals with the matter particularly on the protection of the sea borders which are not only Greece's borders but EU's borders "maybe they do not understand that this is not a matter of irregular migration it is something much more than that and secondly the protection of the sea borders is very different than the protection of the land borders. It is very difficult for someone that does not have sea borders to understand the special nature of the problem. On his part, Xamacek said that he understand the difficulties and noted that his country is willing to help with equipment and staffing as well as on the joint protection of the European borders. He also pointed out that the refugees issue is an international issue underlining that there must be a distinction between those refugees that are entitled to asylum and the economic migrants clarifying that the second should return to their countries. He also made a special reference to the condition in Syria noting that the Czech Republic is waiting to see the developments in the area after the elections of new US president Donald Trump underlining that the end of the war in Syria will significantly contribute in the reduction of the refugees flow to Greece. [04] French Ambassador Chantepy refers to Greek-French bridge in innovation sectorThe plan of the Greek-French innovation network and the 'makers-space' in Athens was announced by the French Ambassador to Greece Christophe Chantepy in his intervention at a forum on enterpreneurship and innovations organised by the Greek-French Chamber of Commerce at the French Institute in Athens."Our aim is not the establishment of another innovation incubator or a place for 'startups' as those already operating in Athens but the creation of a bridge for the further enhancement of the Greek-French relations in the area of innovation, a platform that will connect the two countries innovation sector, a meeting and connection place" said the French envoy. [07] "Costa Crociere" will not include the Aegean in 2017 cruise scheduleThe decision of the shipping company"Costa Crociere" to retire from the Aegean and not to include it in its cruise schedule for 2017 has caused concern to businessmen at the ports of Volos, Piraeus, Nafplio and Kalamata.The company's cruise ship "Costa NeoClassica" (2,400 passengers percentage) docked at the port of Volos every 10 days and contributed significantly to the local economy. At an annual basis, "Costa NeoClassica" brought 38,000 tourists, mostly Europeans, to Greece. [08] Israeli tourist arrivals forecast for 2017 very encouragingThe Federation of Hellenic Tourist and Travel Agencies (Fedhatta), on the occasion of the annual conference of ITTAA (The Israel Association of Travel Agencies and Consultants), held in Athens, focused on the important prospects of boosting tourist arrivals from Israel to Greece.The secretary general of the Greek National Tourist Organisation (GNTO) Dimitris Tryfonopoulos stressed that 430,000 Israelis visited Greece in the current year while the prospects for next year are very encouraging. The Greek National Tourist Organisation has already organised targeted actions including familiarisation trips and participation in Israel's 2017 international exhibition, Tryfonopoulos stated.
