    In November 2016, the overall weighted average interest rate on new deposits remained almost unchanged, while the average interest rate on new loans decreased. The interest rate spread between loan and deposit rates decreased to 4.48 percentage points, compared with 4.64 points in the previous month.

    The overall weighted average interest rate on all new deposits remained almost unchanged at 0.35%. In particular, the average interest rate on overnight deposits placed by households remained unchanged at 0.12%. The average interest rate on overnight deposits placed by non-financial corporations remained almost unchanged at 0.17%. The average interest rate on deposits from households with an agreed maturity of up to 1 year decreased by 5 basis points to 0.71%.

    The overall weighted average interest rate on all new loans to households and corporations decreased by 18 basis points from the previous month to 4.83% in November 2016.

    More specifically, the average interest rate on consumer loans without a defined maturity (a category which comprises credit cards, open account loans and overdrafts) remained almost unchanged at 14.48%. The average interest rate on consumer loans with a defined maturity at a floating rate increased by 48 basis points to 7.96%.

    The average interest rate on corporate loans without a defined maturity decreased by 6 basis points to 5.70%. The corresponding rate on loans to sole proprietors decreased by 3 basis points to 7.36%. The average interest rate on corporate loans with a defined maturity at a floating rate decreased by 37 basis points to 4.61%. In particular, the rate on loans of up to €250,000 decreased by 45 basis points to 5.42%, on loans of over €250,000 and up to €1 million decreased by 49 basis points to 4.84%, while the rate on loans of over €1 million decreased by 37 basis points to 4.54%. Finally, the average interest rate on housing loans at a floating rate decreased by 7 basis points to 2.62%.

    In November 2016, the overall weighted average interest rates on the outstanding amounts of all deposits and all loans remained almost unchanged. The spread between loan and deposit rates remained unchanged at 4.48 percentage points.

    In more detail, the overall weighted average interest rate on the outstanding amounts of all deposits (including overnight deposits) stood at 0.37% in November 2016 and the corresponding rate on loans at 4.85%.

    In particular, the average interest rate on the outstanding amounts of deposits with an agreed maturity of up to 2 years placed by households decreased by 3 basis points to 0.77%. The average interest rate on the outstanding amounts of deposits with an agreed maturity of up to 2 years placed by non-financial corporations decreased also by 3 basis points to 0.83%. The average interest rate on outstanding amounts of housing loans with over 5 years' maturity stood at 2.61%, almost unchanged from the previous month. Finally, the corresponding average interest rate on outstanding amounts of corporate loans stood at 3.96% and the rate on loans to sole proprietors stood at 5.14%, both almost unchanged from the previous month.
