[01] Employees at public broadcaster ERT to hold work stoppages this week
Employees in public broadcaster ERT will hold a series of work stoppages
as of Wednesday to protest against chronic problems, such as new hirings
in specific fields throughout the country, independence from digital
network operator Digea and new unified payroll, their union POSPERT
said on Tuesday.
The work stoppages have been scheduled for Wednesday from 12:00 to 15:00
and in Thursday from 15:00 to 18:00, while more labour action is planned
after that.
POSPERT says the problems in ERT are affecting the working climate and
the broadcaster's production, adding that the labour laws governing
the operation of the TV channels, employee mobility and its status as
a public utility "put the company in a difficult position".
The union is also asking for a meeting with Telecoms and Media Minister
Nikos Pappas, as well as the company's management.
[02] Coast Guard rejects media reports that Turkish boat sailed close
to Imia islets
The Greek Coast Guard denied on Tuesday reports in Turkish media
claiming that a Turkish patrol boat approached the islets of Imia
earlier this morning.
The announcement comes after a video emerged which allegedly showed the
vessel coming within 2 miles of the coast. The Coast Guard also said
the area is constantly being monitored by one of its patrol boats.
