  • [01] The torture with the second review must end, Potami leader Theodorakis says

    Potami party leader Stavros Theodorakis on Monday underlined the need the second review of the Greek programme to conclude in the next days. The Chinese torture must stop he said and accused the government for the delay in his statements during his visit to TIF-Helexpo headquarters.

    "We hope that the prime minister will persuade his party and his ministers that this torture must end. We are at a crucial point. The political and economic instability reduces the activity, it even reduces the tourist interest for Greece. We hope that the review will conclude in the following days" he stated.

    [02] EU Commission spokesman Schinas confirms resumption of negotiations

    BRUSSELS (ANA/Ch. Vassilaki) - European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas on Monday confirmed the resumption of the negotiations on the Greek programme.

    "Building on the progress already recorded in the negotiations, the institutions continue the deliberations in order to pave the way for the conclusion of the second programme review as soon as possible," Schinas underlined.

    According to an EU source, the aim is to achieve the best possible progress ahead of the Eurogroup on April 7 while the return of the institutions is not likely before that day. The same source said that although there are important delays, there are some irrational demands on the table of the negotiations that do not allow the conclusion of the review.

    [03] Cafeteria owner allegedly involved in brutal beating of student received extension to testify to the prosecutor

    A 42-year old member of extreme right party Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avghi) alleged to be involved in the brutal beating and injury of a university student last Friday asked and received and extension to testify to the prosecutor on Wednesday.

    The suspect is facing robbery and serious injury charges by complicity received an extension to testify because some documents have been not yet included in the case file.

    The man, a cafeteria owner, was arrested following witnesses statements that he participate in a group of Golden Dawn members that assaulted and brutally beat the 24-year old student on the head and the body until he fell unconscious. The perpetrators also stole the student's backpack.

    According to information, the suspect is allegedly head of the security staff at the party's headquarters, he was hired in 2012 and was tranferred to the office of Golden Dawn's leader Nikos Mihaloliakos in the Greek parliament
