[01] Amphipolis and all Greek monuments are a priority, says Culture Min KoniordouAmphipolis and all the important Greek monuments is our priority, Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou on Wednesday said in a meeting with Central Macedonia regional governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas."Our aim is to continue the excavations and make the monument accessible to visitors," she underlined and added: "The cooperation with the region of Central Macedonia is important because it is giving us the opportunity to resume the excavations." On his part, Tzitzikostas said that 1 billion euro funds from cross border programmes have already been channeled to support the works in Amphipolis and an additional 1.5 million euro funds from the new NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework) programme will be channeled towards that direction. [02] 66 pct of Athens' citizens considers that migrants do not cause problemsApproximately 18,000 refugees are now in Athens, the mayor of the Greek capital Giorgos Kaminis on Wednesday said during the presentation of the Hellenic Observatory's surveys.The three surveys were carried out at the Eleonas accommodation centre as well as apartments rented to migrants. According to the surveys, a 66 pct of the citizens of Athens considers that the migrants and refuges do not cause any problems to their neighborhood. At the Eleonas refugee camp, the average age is 20 years old, while only a 5 pct of them wishes to remain in Greece, the surveys added.
