  • [01] Exit from the crisis a national goal, says PM Tsipras

The claim of a final exit from the crisis, sustainable and socially fair, after seven years of recession is a national goal and not simply the government's political goal, underlined Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in a post on his facebook account on Saturday.

"ELSTAT's reviewed figures on the Greek economy show 0,4 pct growth instead of 0,5 pct recession in the first quarter of 2017 as it had been announced one month ago" said Tsipras adding "The claim of a final exit from the crisis, sustainable and socially fair, after seven years of recession is not only the government's political goal or the prospect of another tenure. It refers to the future of the country. It is not a political goal. It is a national goal".

[02] We will not accept any proposal with no final solution, gov't spokesman Tzanakopoulos says

We have made clear that we will not accept any proposal that will not give a final solution and will not guarantee Greece's exit to the markets" stated State Minister and government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos in an interview with the Sunday edition of Avghi newspaper.

"The government and all the involved parts in the Greek programme are working in order a solution to be found at the Eurogroup meeting. Besides, the Eurogroup and not the Greek government set as landmark the next Eurogroup meeting with the joint communiqué on May 22" underlined Tzanakopoulos.

He reiterated Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' position that if there are no measures for the debt after the end of the programme then the voted measures will not be implemented. "The momentum exists" he said adding that "the only reason not to be achieved now would be for political purposes. I don't want to believe that there are lenders that do not want the successful completion of the third programme.

There are some who believe that Germany does not want Greece to exit the crisis. I am not one of those but Germany must prove it in practice, concluded Tzanakopoulos.

[03] New Democracy wants clear solution, says ND spokesman Kikilias

New Democracy (ND) spokesman Vassilis Kikilias stated that "ND wants a clear solution that will make the Greek debt sustainable. An extension of the grace period and of its payment and the 'freezing' of the interests, in an interview to Real News newspaper.

The main opposition spokesman referred to the government's strategic defeat that is now passing on the citizens.

"The measures are unnecessary, they are the product of the delay and the deadlock policies" he said while referring to Greece's partners he said that "they are also responsible for the blend of the policies and the overtaxation of the Greeks but mostly because they are taking advantage of the most weak and handy government in the years after the junta for their own benefit".
