    Temperatures in Athens will range from 18 to 28 degrees centigrade, and in Thessaloniki from 16 to 27 degrees.

    [02] Indefinite strike by petrol station owners starting tomorrow

    Gasoline station owners today announced a strike of indefinite duration, starting tomorrow morning at 6. Meanwhile, a crucial meeting has been scheduled tomorrow between the service station owners and the general secretary of the Finance ministry.

    [03] Pasok and ND clash over recent opinion polls

    New opinion polls on voters' preferences have caused intense political clashes between the ruling Pasok party and the main opposition New Democracy party. Pasok maintains that a new political climate ' more favourable to the socialist party ' has been created, while ND insists that its lead in recent surveys is now an established fact.

    [04] Traffic changes at Ambelokipi intersection

    Radical changes in traffic direction were implemented early this morning at the Ambelokipi junction of Alexandras, Kifissias and Mesogion avenues. The section of Mesogion from Vassilisis Sophias to Fidippidou has now become one-way, as has Fidippidou from Mesogion to Kifissias. Motorists heading to Mesogion from Alexandras will now be required to use Zaharof Street, which has also changed its direction. In addition, the left turn from Vassilisis Sophias into Alexandras is prohibited

    [05] Karamanlis addresses ethnic Greeks in Yalta

    New Democracy leader Costas Karamanlis ' currently touring southeastern Ukraine ' went to Yalta today, the last leg of his trip. In a speech to ethnic Greeks, Karamanlis slammed the government, saying that his party would do everything it could to ensure that Greece would not disappoint them again.

    [06] NYT reports positively on Olympic preparations

    The "New York Times" has published a positive report on preparations for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. It notes that hotel infrastructures have been upgraded and improved, transport for visitors is being significantly facilitated and the Acropolis area has been beautified.

    A top US Senate Democrat urged American President George W. Bush today "to outsmart the French" in their opposition to a new UN resolution on Iraq, by having the Security Council decide when to turn control back to Iraq.

    Attackers killed two American soldiers in a mortar attack and a third died from a roadside bomb blast, in the latest strikes against US occupation forces in Iraq, military officials said today

    [09] Palestinian PM-designate tries to rally support

    Palestinian Prime Minister-designate Ahmed Qurie sought to rally support today for his government-in-the-making, in talks with a committee representing 13 Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip. But leaders of the militant group Hamas, in hiding from Israeli attack, did not attend the session.
