    In his interview with Typos tis Kyriakis, Economy Minister Giorgos Alogoskoufis pledged that the OGA pensions and EKAS will rose above 5%, namely above inflation. He also noted that the effort to further curb the deficits will go on without imposing tax measures on the citizens. The Bill on Public Utilities and Enterprises (DEKO) "will be implemented," assured Mr Alogoskoufis, while regarding the reforms, he added, "they should not be reduced to the economy sector, but they should involve the fields of health, education and social welfare, as well." At the same time, he voiced his belief that the economy staff should remain as it is and went on to call on the Ministers to observe the budget of their Ministries and made it clear that no excesses in the expenditures will be accepted.

    [02] 43 Deads 42 Injured Tragedy in India

    Forty-three people were trampled to death and further forty-two were injured at a food supply distribution centre in Chennai south of India. As per PTI news agency, the death toll rose to 30 with most victims being women. Thousands of people had rushed to get food and medicine supplies following rumours that it was the last day of distribution. Octobers heavy downpours that severely affected Chennai and other southern regions of India left thousands of people homeless.

    [03] Temperature Fall Weather Gets Nasty

    Weather has decided to get wintry. Showers, snowfalls and gale-force winds make the weather that has been affecting Greece. Ships are docked at the ports of Piraeus and Rafina due to the strong winds on the open sea. As per the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, as of Monday temperature is expected to range from -4 to 7 degrees Celsius in the north, while temperature is to range from 1 to 18 degrees in the rest of the country. In Attica, showers and snowfalls are forecast to hit Parnitha, winds will be of gale-force and northerly and temperature is to range from 3 to 12 degrees Celsius. In Thessaloniki, sleet is expected, while temperature is to range from -2 to 7 degrees.

    Snowfalls in Macedonia

    Showers on the plains and snowfalls in the mountains make the weather in Macedonia, north of Greece.

    Both the national and provincial road network is open, while car drivers on the Serres-Thessaloniki National Highway should be equipped with snow chains.

    Snow chains are also necessary for drivers heading towards Lailia ski resort, Serres-Ano Vrontous provincial road and on the Serres-Promahonas National Highway after the 40th km.

    In Kastoria, north west of Greece, it has been snowing since Sunday morning. Snow chains are needed for drivers on the mountainous provincial road network.

    [04] Found Dead on His Wheel Chair Fire in Kato Patisia

    A fire broke out early on Sunday morning in Kato Patisia, Athens. A disabled man, 43, was found dead on his wheel chair by firefighters. First information put down his death to his inhaling fumes that had stuffed the apartment on the ground floor. His wife, nurse by profession, had left the apartment a hew minutes earlier.
