Celebrating the Catholic Easter Sunday, thousands of Roman Catholics
defied the rainy weather and gathered outside the Vatican to listen to
the Popes speech. In his Easter message, Pope Benedict XVI appealed for
peace in the Middle East, Tibet and Iraq. Staying true to a Catholic
Easter custom, the Pope baptized seven adults during the Easter vigil
service. Italys most prominent Muslim commentator Magdi Allam, deputy
editor of the Corriere della Sera newspaper, was among those converted
to Roman Catholicism.
