[01] Weather "Deteriorating"

According to weather forecast there will be deterioration in weather conditions in the next hours. Heavy rain and local storms are forecast in most parts of the country, including Attika, on Friday. The Peloponese, Sterea, Thessaly, Sporades, Eboia and probably the Dodecanese islands will see heavier rainfall while snow will fall on high ground in Central and northern Greece, particularly on Pindos mountain range as well as on high ground in West and Central Sterea and in the northern part of Peloponnese later in the evening. Winds northeasterly strong to very strong, locally reaching gale force 8 in the North Aegean Sea. In the South Aegean, winds easterly, south-easterly very strong, locally reaching gale force 8- 9, gradually abating from late afternoon. In the Dodecanese islands, however, winds will remain gale force all day.

PASOK party is holding a rally at 19:00, on Friday, March 28, at Syntagma Square, inviting all democratic citizens to protest against the governments policy. In the meantime the movements Political Council, chaired by PASOK president, George Papandreou, will convene at 16:00, on Sunday, March, 30 at a central hotel in Larissa. In the morning, on Sunday, a delegation headed by PASOK president, George Papandreou will attend events in Kileler, to mark the anniversary of the Thessalian Farmers Uprising in 1910.

[03] Sentenced to Life 5 Imprisonment

The killer of the 5 hunters from Kalivia village, in Agrinio was sentenced to life 5 imprisonment. His father was also sentenced to life imprisonment, charged of moral instigation in the murder of the five people. The victims relatives stressed that the court ruling was fair and rendered justice.

[04] On Social Security Reforms

According to a gallop conducted by ALCO on behalf of GSEE from 17-20 March the majority of people objects to reforms in the social security system. Specifically 8 in 10 respondents said that rise in women pension age limit is a mistake and object to changes in supplementary pension schemes. In the meantime, Bank of Greece employees appeared determined to continue mobilizations to avert merging of their pension fund with IKA, maintaining that the relevant article of social security draft bill is illegal.
