    After US stocks slid to five-year low yesterday, the Asian Markets continue loosing ground. Tokyos Stock Exchange recorded its biggest daily drop in the last 21 years, with Nikkei dropping by 9.62% and with Jakartas Stock Exchange closing its doors indefinitely. Australia and Singapore sustained losses amounting to 8.3%, Hong Kong and other Far East Markets went down by 7%. Moscows RTS and Micex will not open today, at the decision of the Federal Stock Markets Service. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones was down 0.73%, while European Markets suffered heavy losses. Analysts have attributed the brutal losses to the investors panic and despite the Banks and governments moves to combat the crisis. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan injected an additional injected 34 billion to Banks, while US President George Bush will address his fellow citizens, in an attempt to convince them to show confidence to the governments efforts to tackle the crisis. Meanwhile, light crude has been trading under US$82.85 per barrel in Asian Markets, while the price of Brent, North Sea dropped below US$80. Presently it is trading at US$79.19 per barrel.

    As per Public Issue poll commissioned by Kathimerini newspaper and Sky, PASOK (Socialists) is leading by one percentage point. Increasing its popularity by 3.5% since September, PASOK is leading on voting intention with 36%, followed by the ND (Conservatives) party with 35%. However, the NDs popularity rose by one percentage point. SYN (Coalition of the Left) lost three percentage points (12.5%), KKEs (Communist Party of Greece) 8% remained unchanged, LAOS (Popular Orthodox Rally) dropped by 0.5% to 5%, the Ecologists garnered 2.5% and the rest got 1%. 29% believe that ND would rule better and 27% PASOK, while 40% said neither, and 1% both. 3% did not answer. Kostas Karamanlis is preferred as PM by 41% and George Papandreou by 33%, while 23% prefer neither. Regarding the way the government is handling problems, 82% are not satisfied at all or moderately satisfied, while 17% is very or fairly satisfied. The respective percentage points for PASOK are 81% and 17%.
