[01] Karamanlis-Spiliotopoulos Meeting
Exiting his meeting with Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis at Maximos
Mansion, Education Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos expressed his
satisfaction over the first sitting of the political committee set up
to push for changes in education. Spiliotopoulos touched on tomorrow's
opening sitting of the Council for Secondary and Primary Education
under Professor Giorgos Babiniotis, arguing that specific proposals
would be unveiled, including the disconnection of high school from
tertiary education. Aris Spiliotopoulos then invited all political
parties to join the dialogue, urging to put any political expediencies
aside.
Asked what the Prime Minister's request was, the Education Minister
noted that he demanded all positions be coded as soon as possible.
Answering a similar question, Spiliotopoulos reminded that Babiniotis
had said it would take six month to code all positions.
He then went on to add that it is a dialogue with no pre-taken
decisions and no pre-set routes.
