    The optical fibre network to be installed will offer high speed Internet access at low cost to about 2 million households and businesses. Unveiling the draft bill, Transport Minister Evrypides Stylianides said that Greece becomes pioneer in technology matters, abolishing the isolation of the Greek countryside.

    The activities of the Ministries of Education and Culture aiming to introduce all aspects of culture in education topped the Inner Cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis. Education Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos stressed that culture and education are interrelated notions and praised the coordinated campaign of the two ministries to make it part of children's education. Culture Minister Antonis Samaras, on his part, underlined that culture will emerge through specific guidelines.

    [03] Antiviral Medicines Back in Drag Stores

    The Health Minister decided to flow antiviral medicines back on the shelves of drag stores for preventive and therapeutic care. Neither antiviral medicines nor the pneumococcal vaccine will be given without a prescription. The Greek National Drag Organization (EOF) will be monitoring market shortages. In the meantime, the Justice Minister unveiled measures against the swine flu in prisons. SYN (Coalition of the Radical Left) President Alexis Tsipras said that the Greek health care is understaffed and lacks a reliable first degree health care network.

    In the meantime, the students of the Hellenic Naval Academy who were on an education trip in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, will undergo tests for, as some of them developed respiratory infections.

    [04] Siemens Case: Former Siemens Hellas CEO Back in Custody

    The developments in the investigation into the Siemens case in Germany and the extradition of Michael Christoforakos to Greece topped the meeting held between Greek Justice Minister Nikos Dendias and the German ambassador. Dendias noted that the Christoforakos issue is not a subject to be negotiated between the governments of the two nations. In the meantime, shortly after his release, former Siemens Hellas CEO Ilias Georgiou was taken back in custody, after his deposition, during which he denied the bribery and money laundering charges.
