Rise in public sector wages, boost of employment, radical reform in taxation to make it fairer are the main demands of ADEDY. Participating in ADEDY strike are civil servants, tax office and social security Funds employees as well as employees in local administration.

Hospitals will function with skeleton staff as doctors and nurses join mobilizations.

Closed are educational institutions as grammar, high school and university and Technical college teachers are participating in strike mobilizations

All flights to and from Greece are due to be grounded on Wednesday because of a strike by air traffic controllers under a broader walkout against public sector wage policy. The air traffic controllers' strike will apply to all Greek airports, and has forced the cancellation or rescheduling of several OA and Aegean flights late Tuesday.

But the umbrella of civil servants' union, ADEDY said the walkout would not extend to means of mass transport except for suburban train and Hellenic railways which would stage rotating stoppages from 06:00-09:00, 14:00- 17:00 and 22:00- 01:00.

ADEDY main demonstration is scheduled for 10:30 at Klathmonos square.

PAME is also staging demonstration in private sector with rallies in 65 cities nationwide. Demonstration in Athens is held at 10:00, in Syntagma square. ADEDY will decided on Thursday whether to stage a new demonstration at the beginning of March or join GSEE mobilization on February, 24.
