  • [01] Infection Contracted in Eye-Clinic

    Sunday, 27 June 2010 13:29

Thirteen people who underwent cataract surgery in a private clinic in Serres, northern Greece, were transferred to state hospitals in Thessaloniki suffering post surgery eye infection. Six of them had to undergo operation again. Some of their relatives warned that they will refer to justice while Health Minister has ordered investigation on the conditions of the clinic.

A routine cataract operation almost cost the vision of 13 patinets who were operated in a private clinic in Serres.

According to the eye practitioner the operation was successful but all patients suffered from infection ( endoofthalmitida) the next day.

The national Health Center ordered the halt of operations in the private clinic until a delegation inspects the premises and surgery tools.
