Finance Minister George Papakonstantinou said the government plans to implement reforms in DEKO in the stock market. All opposition political parties object to the draft-bill while ND party has announced its intention to vote down the bill in principal and only vote in favour of articles regarding DEKO. PASOK deputies, who attended meeting of the party's economic and employment parliamentary sectors, strongly criticized the Finance and Employment Ministers. PASOK Deputies Criticize Urgent Procedure Debate on multi draft-bill providing for new regulations on labour rights, cuts in DEKO salaries and reforms in taxation started at noon amid strong objections. Opposition parties raised objections regarding urgent procedure, maintaining that it is an offensive procedure and disrespect to parliamentary institutions. On his part, Finance Minister George Papakonstantinou said that although the government was not pleased with the procedure, it was in accordance with the Constitution and parliament regulation and it is necessary because there is specific deadline for the voting of regulations. Ruling party deputies objected to the urgent procedure and maintained that they are called to approve regulations that have been already taken. Government spokesman, George Petalotis said that there is no question about party discipline during tomorrow's voting as all deputies are autonomous and independent to judge according to their conscience and they first realize the importance of draft-bills for big reforms and the country's rescue.Mr. Petalotis also said that society supports big reforms in DEKO underlining the need for cuts in huge salary when the government is trying to cut big wastes in public sector.
