Thessaloniki, 06.06.1998 (MPA) Bulgaria's exiled King Simeon B', Prince Aga Han and Vladimir Romanov, who claims the Russian throne, arrived in Mount Athos, in Chalkidiki northern Greece, at noon today.

The three arrived in Thessaloniki last night on a chartered flight from Geneva and today they will visit the monasteries of Batopediou and Iviron while on Sunday they will visit the monastery of Zografou.

According to information, their visit to the monastic community of Athos is placed within the framework of the efforts for the creation of a Club for the Friends of Byzantium.

[02] INFLATION WAS 5.3% IN MAY

    Web Posted: 16:27 GMT+2
Athens, 06.06.1998 (MPA) The inflation rate in Greece remained unchanged at 5.3% in May and the Statistics Agency speculates that the effects of the devaluation of the drachma have been absorbed, while inflation will drop starting in the month of June.

According to information, inflation in June is expected to be between 5.1% and 5.2%. Those speculations raise the hopes of the government's economic staff which expects that inflation will drop to 4% by the end of 1998.

This way the goal of a 2% inflation at the end of 1999 will be feasible and will open the door for Greece to enter the European Economic and Monetary Union at the year 2001.

[03] POSITIVE COMMENTS BY THE EU ON THE GREEK ECONOMY

    Web Posted: 16:27 GMT+2
Athens, 06.06.1998 (MPA) The 15 finance ministers of the European Union countries made positive comments on the state of the Greek economy.

The report will be discussed in the European Summit meeting that will be held in Cardiff on June 15 and 16.
