Fifty Greek companies will present their products in Belgrade on October 6-9 reconfirming their interest in the market of New Yugoslavia in spite of the fact that the embargo is still in effect.The decision to hold the exhibition was the result of the interest expressed by northern Greek businessmen who want to become active in the Yugoslav market as it is estimated that there is a lot of room for the further strengthening of bilateral transactions. As it was made known, the Yugoslav capital will be visited by 30 businessmen from northern Greece on the occasion of the trade exhibition. In a letter to his Russian counterpart Igor Ivanov, on the occasion of the 170 years since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Greece and Russia, Mr. Pangalos expressed the belief that the friendly relations between the two countries will be strengthened further.The Greek foreign minister points out in his letter that in the new post cold war international system the two countries share common interests with basic point the preservation of peace in the Balkans, eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea. [04] SORIN MATEI IS DEADWeb Posted: 15:57 GMT+2Athens, 26/09/1998 (MPA) Romanian criminal Sorin Matei was found dead in the Koridalos Prison hospital under strange circumstances. According to the first information available, his death was the result of heart failure. It should be noted that yesterday Sorin was brought to the prison hospital from the General Hospital in Nikea where he had been taken immediately after last Wednesday's blood bath.Meanwhile, the condition of 25yearold Amalia Ginaki, who had been taken hostage by Matei, has further deteriorated, while she remains in the intensive care unit of the Red Cross Hospital for a third day. [B] BALKANS[05] SIMITIS-STOYANOV-CONSTANTINESCU MEETING IN DELPHIWeb Posted: 15:57 GMT+2Sofia, 26/09/1998 (MPA) Prime minister Kostas Simitis will meet in Delphi on October 3 and 4 with the presidents of Bulgaria Petar Stoyanov and Romania Emil Constantinescu.According to a statement issued by the Bulgarian presidency press office, the meeting, which will focus on issues of good neighborly relations and matters of mutual interest such as countering international crime, will contribute to the establishment of balanced relations among the Balkan states. The three leaders will also examine issues concerning the expansion of the European Union and NATO as well as, the situation in south-eastern Europe. [06] TSOCHATZOPOULOS-SEZGUIN MEETING IN SKOPJEWeb Posted: 15:57 GMT+2Skopje, 26/09/1998 (MPA) Minister of national defense Akis Tsochatzopoulos met with his Turkish counterpart Ismet Sezguin in Skopje last night a few hours before the opening of the south-eastern European ministers of defense meeting.In statements he made to MPA, Mr. Sezguin expressed satisfaction for the meeting and said that with his Greek counterpart have agreed on a number of issues. Mr. Tsochatzopoulos responding to a question by MPA clarified that were discussed issues of security and cooperation in the wider region and the Black Sea.
