Komotini, Feb. 1997: 2nd Symposium of Anthropology.Conferences in and about Greece Directory - Previous Article - Next ArticleFrom: "HR-Net News Distribution Manager" <dist@hri.org>Originally-From: The Hellenic Literature Society <GreekBooks@worldnet.att.net> SYMPOSIUM OF ANTHROPOLOGYThe Laboratory of Anthropology and the Municipality of Komotini, organize at Komotini during the end of February 1997 (the precise date will be shortly announced) the Second Symposium of Anthropology under the title: Perspectives of Anthropological Studies in the Europe of 2000. The aim of this scientific meeting is to study the academic and research perspectives of the various fields of the Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences at the beginning of the third millennium, the consequences of the European homogenization to the further academic development and recognition of the respective studies, the possibility of creative cooperation among the particular fields of anthropological and ethnological Sciences, the necessity of the introduction of the appropriate subjects in the Secondary Education, the development of better understanding of the peculiarities of the various people of Europe, the possibilities of development of research and academic cooperation between the Balkan Countries.During the Symposium, discussions will take place concerning the following subjects: Anthropology as a multidimensional science. Taking advantage of the European educational Programmes for the renewal of the curricula. The basic knowledge of Anthropology in the Secondary Education. The linkage of anthropological studies with the work market. The interference of Anthropology to the evolution of the contemporary multicultural societies. The recent research trends and the problems of the respective research in the Balkan Countries. During the meeting, a special discussion will be dedicated to the perspectives of Balkan collaborations. Usual communications will not be presented during the Symposium. The participants are kindly asked to come prepared for essential involvement in the discussions, with concrete proposals.
