TOPICS:

A. Main Lectures

As it is known from previous years international authorities on matters of sports science will participate and give special lectures on different topics of physical education and sport.

B. Round Tables

1. Osteoporosis, sports and women 2. Recreation and exercise 3. Exercise and energy metabolism

Specialists have been invited to present their views and initiate the discussion on specific areas of physical education and sports science.

C. Free Communications and Posters

Besides the main lectures and fhe round tables which will be folfowed by discussion, free communications and Posters will be included in the Congress. Interesting and original papers covering the following topics of Sports Science will be considered:

* Sports sociology * Sports psychology * Motor learning * Sports and law * Sports and medicine * Athletic injuries (prevention-diagnosis-therapy) * Rehabilitation and special training after athletic injuries * Sports and nutrition * Biomechanics of athletic movement * Biochemistry of exercise * Theory and teaching in physical education and sports * Exercise physiology * Special topics on various sports * History of physical education * Sports for all * Exercise and recreation * Testing and evaluation * Doping * Sports management * Athletic coaching * Sports philosophy * Adapted physical education * Dancing and folklore * Sports and technology

For this purpose, we invite our colleagues to present their current work of interest.

D. Seminars

The following seminars with limited participation will take place within the frame of the congress:

* The application of stretching in sports * Testing for the evaluation of physical fitness * Taping * Training and rehabilitation of athletic injuries with isokinetic dynamometry * Psychological preparation for competition * Assessments of motor abilities in awkward and non-awkward children

During these seminars, method techniques and their application will be analyzed by specialists. Practical exercises will follow after the theoretical part with the active participation of all the participants. Due to the limited number of participants, registration will take place till 31-3-97. A cheque of 5.000 drachmas must be attached for each seminar. Those who wish are free to choose up to three seminars.

Scientific Communications:

Communication Abstracts and Posters should be sent to the Secretariat of the Congress by February 28th,1997.

For the abstracts, see the abstract form. The time of presentation will be 10 min with single or double slide projection. The dimensions of the Poster are 135x115cm.

Languages:

Greek, English and German with simultaneous translation.

Publication of Abstracts:

All the abstracts of communications and Posters will be published in a special issue of the "Exercise & Society Journal of Sport Science" a biannual edition of our Department.

Publication of Papers:

The participants can also publish a full paper of their presentation in the "Exercise & Society Journal of Sport Science", following the guidelines to the authors.

Social Activities:

Activities will be scheduled for all the pacrticipants. In addition, daily excursions to touristic sites will be organized for the accompanying persons.

Accommodation:

During the period of the congress, the weather is agreable and the temperature ranges from 18o-22o C. For the accommodation of the participants, there are a number of different hotels which offer special rates:
