JOINT CALL ON EDUCATIONAL MULTIMEDIA

We would like to inform you that the European Commission has announced a call for proposals on Educational Multimedia involving the RTD programmes (Telematics Applications, Information Technologies, Targeted Socio-Economic Research, Socrates) and non RTD&D programmes in the field of education and training (Leonardo da Vinci) as well as in the field of trans-European telecommunication networks (Ten-Telecom). Indicative budget of the Call is 30 Mecus.

For this educational Multimedia Call a two stage procedure will be implemented.

  • First stage: submission of a short proposal, as described at the Information Package, at the Commission till 14 March 1997
  • Second stage: successful proposals from the first stage will be invited to submit a full proposal till 16 June 1997

The goals of the Call are

  • to encourage the implementation and the deployment of electronic networks of schools in Europe
  • to stimulate the development of teaching and learning multimedia resources of European interest
  • to promote teacher training of new technologies in the classroom

Users' implication is a critical success factor as the Call aims at bringing together producers, service providers, distributors with teachers, trainers and learners in a real life environment.

Potential partners in the proposals to be submitted can be telecommunication service operators, broadcasters, information and telecommunication technology industries, training institutions, corporate training departments, universities, schools, distance learning institutions, libraries, museums, cultural centres, publishers and other possible resource centres.

The selected projects are expected to start at the end of 1997 or beginning of 1998 with mean duration of 2 years and in no case beyond 3 years. Participation rules are defined in the proposer's guide.

Each proposal should address at least one of the tasks or priorities coming from the participating programmes.

Two types of proposals are expected:

  • Trans-programme proposals following the tasks of the common Workprogramme
  • Single programme proposals (not for SOCRATES and LEONARDO DA VINCI)

    DEADLINE : 14/3/1997
