Applications are invited for one pre-doctoral research position in the
Molecular Virology Laboratory
of the Hellenic Pasteur
Institute. Research will focus on molecular mechanisms of viral
pathogenesis as related to two viral model systems, namely the Kaposi's
sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KHSV / HHV 8) and the Hepatitis C Virus
(HCV). More specifically, the project will examine the molecular
interactions between key viral gene products (candidate oncogenes) and host
cell proteins involved in cell cycle regulation, with a view to
characterizing mechanisms contributing to viral pathogenesis (see Nature
(1997) 385:347 & Nature (1998) 391:86).
Applicants should be holders of biomedical or medical degrees, and
should ideally have previous experience with basic molecular biology and
cell culture techniques. Monthly salary of 200,000 DRS (pre-tax) is
guaranteed for a minimum of three years, starting January 1999, and can be
extended depending on the progress of the project. Please submit a
Curriculum Vitae with names and addresses of three references to:
