POSITION

Post Doctoral Fellow. Analysis of mechanical behaviour of biodegradable films for Agricultural applications. This is a non-tenure track, full-time temporary position that may be funded for 2 years through a National research project. The individual reports to Prof. Demetres Briassoulis, on the proposal preparation for the grant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Analysis of the mechanical behaviour of biodegradable materials that can be used for agricultural applications in the form of films with a variety of properties.

Investigation, development and application of methods for monitoring the relationship between degradation and mechanical behaviour of biodegradable films under field conditions.

Design and conduct experiments that contribute knowledge to the mechanisms and conditions that determine the evolution of the mechanical properties of these materials.

Write manuscripts that report results and submit them to peer-reviewed journals.

Collaborate with other personnel contributing to the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. in chemical or material science - engineering field with at least some working knowledge of polymers characterisation and mechanical behaviour. Candidates with experience in polymers mechanical behaviour, characterization and testing of degradation of polymeric and biodegradable materials will be given preference. Effective written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
