Stressing that he is well informed about the problems of the Turkish economy, Hardy said, ''yes, chronic inflation is the most important problem in Turkey, but she is one of the few countries which has a high growth rate together with high inflation. Turkey continues to grow.''

''Turkey can continue to invest with a more effective tax and capital market system and with a reasonable inflation in the medium term,'' said Hardy, adding that privatization continues and the draft law on the tax reform is being discussed at the Parliament.

Hardy added that Turkey is one of the countries which was slightly affected by the Asian crisis, ''besides there is the positive effect of the Asian crisis on Turkey, which is the fact that she can attract more foreign capital, because she has a more stable capital structure and an interest rate, when compared with the Asian countries,'' he said.

Noting that Turkey also wants the unity of the Serbians and Croatians who constitute the Federation, Ecevit said that the Bosnian people are very important for Turkey.

Pointing out that Turkey contributed a lot to the establishment of the Bosnian Federation, Ecevit stressed that those people who left Bosnia during the war, are faced with serious problems when they come back to Bosnia.

Ganic, the President of the Bosnian Federation, said that they have always needed the views of Turkey, adding ''stability can't be established in the Balkans without the contribution of Turkey.''

Noting that there are several problems in the Sanjak region, which is within the borders of Yugoslavia, Ganic said that they asked the Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to send a delegation to the region.

Responding to the questions of journalists about the new plan of the Israeli government in Jerusalem, Ashrawi said, ''the thing which is done is against international agreements. Israel doesn't aim to serve for peace, she takes steps to provocate her counterpart. When people discuss the issue of Jerusalem, the Arabian peoples and the Palestinians are ignored. As long as the situation goes on like that, peace can't be established. The main aim of the Israeli government is to curtail the peace process and prepare the basis for new clashes. However, her behaviour will bring the region onto the threshold of a big clash.''
