[01] STATE MINISTER AND DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER YILMAZ: ''AUTUMN OF 2003
CAN BE THOUGHT OF AN ELECTION DATE''
IZMIR - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz said on
Friday that he did not think that an early election would be beneficial
for Turkey, noting that, ''autumn of 2003 can be thought of an election
date.''

MILITARY ACTIVITIES OF TURKEY IN CYPRUS
ANKARA - Foreign Ministry Spokesman Huseyin Dirioz said on Friday that
there was not any change in Turkey's normal military activities in
Cyprus.

ISTANBUL - The First Turkish-Greek Official Golf Tournament started in
Istanbul on Friday.

ANKARA - Ankara is pleased with election of Hamid Karzai as the Afghan
President by the Loya Jirga grand assembly.
[05] TREASURY TO HOLD THREE AUCTIONS NEXT WEEK
ANKARA - Treasury will hold three auctions next week. Treasury will
auction 3-month reference bonds on Monday, June 17. It will auction
203-day and 350-day discounted treasury bonds denominated in foreign
currency on Tuesday, June 18.
[06] TREASURY TO REPAY USD 657.4 MILLION IN EXTERNAL DEBT NEXT WEEK
ANKARA - Treasury will repay 657.4 million U.S. dollars in foreign
debt next week.

reach a consensus of opinion with the opposition, if it does not insist
on constitutional amendment to lift death sentence. A draft law
envisaging life imprisonment for crimes of terrorism can be adopted by
the Parliamentary General Assembly.''

[23] INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION INDEX FOR FIRST QUARTER TOTAL INDUSTRIAL
PRODUCTION INCREASES BY 3 PERCENT
ANKARA - State Institute of Statistics (DIE) announced on Friday
results of the industrial production index for the first quarter of
2002. Total industrial production increased by 3.0 percent in the first
quarter of 2002, over to the same quarter of the previous year.
[24] DERVIS SAYS TURKEY WAS PROVIDED WITH 11.5 BILLION U.S. DOLLARS OF
LOAN BY IMF IN 2001
ANKARA - State Minister Kemal Dervis for Economy said on Friday that
Turkey was provided with 11 billion 564 million U.S. dollars of loan by
the International Monetary Fund (IMF) within the framework of the
Stand-by agreement in 2001.
[25] SPORTS - WORLD CUP TURKEY TO TAKE ON JAPAN IN WORLD CUP SECOND
ROUND
OSAKA - Turkey will take on Japan in the second round of the 17th World
Football Championship. The match will be played in Miyagi city of Japan

ANKARA - State Minister Kemal Dervis for Economy underwent a surgical
operation of meniscus on Friday.

ANKARA - Treasury will repay 3 quadrillion 999 trillion Turkish liras
(TL) in domestic debt next week.

ANKARA - The Sixth International Folk Dances and Youth Festival will be
