  • [01] PNT-CD vs. Romanian Foreign Minister Adrian Severin

The leadership of the Christian Democratic - National Peasant Party (PNT- CD), the main party in the Romanian governing coalition, said on Monday that they will ask for the dismissal of Foreign Minister Adrian Severin unless he can prove the accusations he made against a number of party leaders and newspaper directors as alleged spies of foreign secret services. Mr. Severin is one of Democratic Party (PD) leaders, the most important coalition partner of the PNT-CD. He had made those accusations last Monday, referring to the evidence he would have seen. PNT-CD Scretary General Radu Vasile said that, without naming the incriminated persons and making public that evidence, the foreign minister has raised suspicions in the Romanian public opinion putting the current political regime under doubt. However, Mr. Radu Vasile said that a decision over Mr. Severin would be made within the governing coalition. RRI-RADOR, October 7
