    PRISHTINE, May 30 /ATA correspondent Behlul Jashari reports:

    Heavy Serbian police forces on Saturday blocked for around six hours the centre of the Mitrovice city and did not allow shops to open. Movement of citizens in the city centre was not allowed either. /b.ca/das/lm/

    [02] Nine Albanians and over 10 Serbian soldiers and policemen killed in 24 hours

    PRISHTINE, May 30 /ATA correspondent Behlul Jashari reports:

    Nine Albanians and more than 10 Serbian soldiers and policemen have been killed over the last 24 hours in Kosova, in skirmishes with Serbian forces.

    Both sides have also suffered many people injured in these firefights. The fiercest fighting has taken place in Dukagjin and Drenice. There are no immediate reports on new victims because of the isolation of the regions and telephone connection cut. /b.ca/das/lm/

    [03] Grave situation in Decan town

    PRISHTINE, May 31 /ATA correspondent Behlul Jashari reports:

    The Decan town is being turned into a ruin, houses and factories are set to fire and the situation appears extremely grave.

    The Serbian forces' attack on the town, the village Carrabreg and suburbs, have continued nonstop since three days ago.

    More than 500 Albanians, mostly children and women, are being held as hostage since several days in the town's centre and nothing is known of their destiny.

    Armed confrontations continue in many directions, while in the whole commune of Decan the population is largely moving towards safer areas. /p.ta/das/lm/

    [04] Message of President Meidani on International Day of Children

    TIRANA, May 31 (ATA)-President of the Republic Rexhep Meidani, on May the 1st, the International Day of Children, addresses to all the Albanian children, wherever they are, the warmest greetings along with great wish to share in the joy and peace of these candid creatures.

    Meidani addresses this message to the children, expressing the will and preoccupation that each day brings them more joy and warmth in their families and elsewhere. according to the president's press and information office close, The president says that the 1st of June is an appeal of the children for more attention on their life, education, entertainment and imagination.

    He says that on the eve of the new millennium, when our young democracy badly needs well educated and instructed, the citizens engage in a life rich in social activity, the education of the children is a major task and objective of the Albanian society and state. /s.sh/das/lm/
