  • [01] The Ordination of the New Bishop Vicar of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the town of Roman

RADOR (2 mai, ora ) - The Orthodox and Greek-Catholic churches and monastries celebrated on Monday the service for the second day of the Easter, the most important festival of Christianity, when the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is being celebrated. On that occasion, the ordination of His Holiness dr. Ioachim Bacaoanul as the new Bishop Vicar took place in the Orthodox Church in the Romanian town of Roman. RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI informed that His Holiness Ioachim had made his name as an outstanding theologian while serving in the cathedral in the city of Iasi. After that, he founded the Romanian monastry in the Frech town of Rossiere. Earlier this year, the clerical body which governs the Romanian Church made all the arrangements for this ordination on May 1st. The ceremony was attended by important religious liders, such as His Holiness Daniel Archbishop of Moldova and Bucovina and His Holiness Iosif Archbishop of Paris, by other religious, cultural al political figures from Bucharest and the town of Roman.

[02] The Chief Negotiator of the IMF Will Be Continuing into this Week the talks with the Romanian Officials

RADOR (2 mai, ora ) - Emanoul Zervoudakis, chief negotiator for Romania of the International Monetary Fund, has decided to stay in Bucharest for another week to continue the talks with the Romanian officials - the Romanian Government spokesman told RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI. Emanuel Zervoudakis wants to take back to Washington a report reflecting Romania's achievements. Romania has already met 20 out of the 25 conditions set by the IMF. The remaining five conditions are the most sensitive, concerning the percentage from the GDP reflected in the wages for people working in the public sector and the steps taken in the problem of the loss-making enterprises. The Romanian officials hope these problems would be overcome. Romania asked for an 11 month extension of the stand-by agreement concluded with the IMF in the last August. This request is to be reviewed by the IMF Board in one of its meetings in May.
