NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BELGRADE - At about 19:55, this evening, the former vicepresident of Republika Srpska (RS), Nikola Koljevic, died at the Military Medical Academy (VMA) in Belgrade, reports Tanjug, citing the VMA Information Service. He died because of a serious brain injury inflicted on January 16, 1997. Koljevic was transferred in a comatose condition to the VMA where a neurosurgery intervention was done immediately. Nikola Koljevic died while he was acting as the president of the Authors Association of Republika Srpska and foreign political advisor in the RS National Assembly. He was born 1936 in Banjaluka. He graduated from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy, in literature and the theory of literature. In 1964 he gained a Ph.D. from the University in Belgrade with a dissertation on "The Theoretical Foundations of New Anglo-Saxon Criticism".

PRISTINA - It is the high time for the Albanian secessionists be decisively resisted and the further realisation of their strategic goals be halted, assessed the president of the Serbian Movement of Resistance, Momcilo Trajkovic, at the All-Serbian popular and religious seminar "Kosovo and Metohia - Which Way To Go Further?" which was held in Pristina. In his introductory speech, Trajkovic mentioned that it is very hard to speak about the Serbian national issue on Kosmet, for "by its immature experiments, a crazy policy has broke up the Serbian national being, making it incapable to survive on the global all-Serbian concept".

ROME - The Italian media focus their attention on the deputy high representative for the civil affairs in the Dayton B&H, Michael Steiner's visit to Rome and the statements which he made at a press conference. The Italian News Agency ADJI underlines that during his January 24 visit to Rome, Steiner stressed that the international community has to keep insisting on the development of democracy in Serbia and Croatia.
