NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA
BANJA LUKA - The President of Republika Srpska Biljana Plavsic and her
associates talked in Banjaluka with the German ambassador to Sarajevo,
Henecker von Bassevitz, about the aspects of the meeting held in Sintra,
the further implementation of the Dayton Agreement and the return of
refugees. President Plavsic pointed out that the RS does not want to block
the return of refugees. But, having in mind that the refugees are making
the third of the total RS population, there are some huge obstacles,
such as insufficient number of housings, stated the chief of the RS
presidential cabinet, Milos Prica, after the meeting.
BANJA LUKA - The vice-president of Republika Srpska, Ostoja Kremenovic,
talked in Banja Luka with representatives of the nine municipalities of
western Krajina, which were given to the Federation of Bosnia and
Hercegovina (FB&H) by the Dayton Agreement, about their future activities.
The representatives of the municipalities of Bihac, Srbobran, Jezero,
Kupres, Grahovo, Krupa-na- Uni, Glamoc, Sanski Most and Drvar acquainted
the vice-president Kremenovic and his associates with the current problems
in their work and the preparations for the upcoming local elections.
SARAJEVO - A meeting of the Joint Military Commission of the Army of
Republika Srpska (VRS), the Croatian Defence Council (HVO), and the Army of
B&H and representatives of the SFOR, took place at Ilidza. They considered
the control and verification of the weapons of the armies of the entities.
Some of the armies failed to reduce the number of weapons, as was agreed to
at the Vienna Conference. This is why the authorised bodies for the
arms control are to visit the localities, check the amount of
weapons and destroy all the superfluous ones, pointed out the SFOR
deputy commander, Kordy Simpson at the meeting.
BRCKO - 'The international community stated at the Sintra Summit that it
hasn't got tired of the implementation of the Dayton Agreement and is going
to increase and maintain its activities in the implementation of the Dayton
Agreement in the following period', stated the supervisor for Brcko, Robert
Farrand. 'Neither will we get tired nor leave from here. We are to stay
here for a long-term and complete what we have started', said Farrand at a
press conference held in the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in
Brcko.
ROME - The Italian media are paying most of their attention to the meeting
of the Presidents of Republika Srpska (RS) and the Federation of Bosnia and
Hercegovina (FB&H), Biljana Plavsic and Vladimir Soljic, respectively,
which took place in Banjaluka on June 5th and at which they discussed the
return of refugees and the possibilities for cooperation between the two
countries. The presidents of RS and the Federation of B&H studied the
conclusions of the meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the NATO
member states, which took place recently in Sintra, Portugal. But, they
gave most of their attention to the further implementation of the Dayton
Peace Accord, asserts the Italian agency ANSA.
