NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The Republika Srpska Ministry of Internal Affairs board of staff, which was also attended by chiefs of the Public and State Security and the Police Department for antiterroristic acts, considered in Banjaluka the current political and security situation in RS. The announcement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs says that the Ministry is acquainted with the latest decisions made by the RS president, which were sent to the minister of internal affairs. These decisions are 'restricting the constitutional and legal authorities and are encroaching on the system of subordination, managing and decision-making prescribed as the exclusive minister's right'. The Ministry of Internal Affairs leadership unanimously concluded that 'the asserted unconstitutional and illegal decisions made by the RS president are encroaching on the work and disturbing complicated and responsible activities of this state body'.

BELGRADE - The opposition in Serbia has a enormous task ahead - the struggle for the electoral conditions, according to the international standards, which might lead to firm alliances, pointed the head of the Democratic Party (DS), Zoran Dyindyic, after the session of the party's Main Board. They are of an opinion in the Democratic Party that it is still too early to say whether the DS is to come out at the elections independently or in a coalition. However, Dyindyic pointed out that democrats will not any longer enter into technical, but into planning coalitions exclusively.

BELGRADE - The Democratic Centre is to keep being engaged in the creating of conditions for a successful building of a modern civil and democratic society', stated the head of the Democratic Centre, Dragolyub Miryanic, at the Party's assembly session. 'If Serbia does not find a way for its own recovery at this elections, then she will be faced with further lagging behind and ruining, assessed Miryanic.

ZAGREB - The cabinet of the chairman of the Presidency of B&H, Alija Izetbegovic, issued an announcement saying that a meeting between Alija Izetbegovic and the Croatian President Franyo Tudyman, which were to take place in Split tomorrow, is delayed upon the request made by the Muslim leader. The problems in the functioning of the Muslim-Croat Federation and its relations with Zagreb were to be on the agenda. 'We see no interest to be photographed together and give optimistic statements that are to be a dead letter', says the announcement issued by the Izetbegovic's cabinet, mentioning that 'the Croatian side is not ready to implement the agreements reached between Croatia and the Federation of B&H, which were a precondition for the holding of a meeting'.
