SARAJEVO - The president in the B-H Presidency from Republika Srpska (RS), Momcilo Krajisnik, called on all employees of the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), unlawfully appointed by RS president Biljana Plavsic to top posts in the Public Security Centre (CJB) in Banjaluka, to withdraw and hand over this institution to its legal chiefs. A communique from president Krajisnik's cabinet said that police chiefs can be appointed and dismissed only by RS minister of interior. "As people of law, you are aware what discontinued subordination and violation of Constitution and Law mean, even more because you were appointed by Biljana Plavsic's unlawful act, and taken to your working places illegitimately and forcibly."

BIJELJINA - The RS Police Brigade and the 6th anti-terrorist police unit in Banjaluka have regularly carried out their mandate and orders by RS MUP, regardless of latest events in Banjaluka. This was assessed at the meeting of RS minister of interior Dragan Kijac and the RS anti-terrorist police unit commander general-major Goran Saric in Bijeljina.

SARAJEVO - RS MUP called on CJB staff in Banjaluka not to proceed with the execution of orders issued by new chiefs appointed to their posts by the decision of RS president Biljana Plavsic. "We have to remind you that the RS MUP operates as a single institution and that its mandate will be completely fulfilled if those subordinated to a new command understand that they are being misled", says the announcement of the RS MUP.

SARAJEVO - The head of the State Security Department, Dragisa Mihic, asked from RS president Biljana Plavsic, SFOR and IPTF that they present the documentation confiscated in the CJB and state security service in Banjaluka to competent prosecutor's office or to the public, in order to stop further manipulation of the people. SRNA publishes the entire announcement from the RS MUP.

BANJALUKA - SFOR members who occupied, on August 20, the MUP Training Centre in Banjaluka and ejected students, have no intention to leave the building, stated the Centre director Mladjen Mladenovic. The multinational forces intend not only to stay, but also to bring in additional troops and equipment, Mladjenovic was informed during his talks with SFOR and IPTF representatives.

BANJALUKA - The CJB in Banjaluka said SFOR troops with armoured vehicles are deployed around he building and around Police stations 1, 2 and 3, but did not specify the number of CJB officers who came to work.

JAJCE - SFOR South-West Sector spokesman, British major Mike Maron, confirmed that the stabilisation forces would continue "to safeguard police buildings in Banjaluka until IPTF carry out its tasks".

JAJCE - IPTF spokesman for Sector West, Alun Roberts, announced in Jajce that on August 21, the IPTF would start the process of reconstruction of local police forces in Banjaluka "There are four IPTF officers, together six-member Serb police teams and a number of SFOR soldiers in five police stations in Banjaluka for a second day, who register local policemen with IPTF as their are returing to work", stated Roberts at a press conference.

DOBOJ - SFOR helicopters and ground units of SFOR carried out a combined military exercise in the area between Doboj and Modrica, which upset the local residents. Before the start of the exercise, the SFOR Nordic-Polish Brigade Information Service announced that the exercise was aimed at coordinating eventual joint operations of air and ground forces.

SRBINJE - French SFOR commander Yves Bero and the SFOR Trnovo Base commander Alen Layurat expressed in Tjentiste their pleasure with the situation in the RS MUP anti-terrorist training centre. "Thanks to cooperation with the Serb police, the situation in this centre is satisfactory", assessed SFOR officers following a regular control.

SALONICA - The next 24 hours will be decisive for the RS fate, reports Greek TV station "Mega", mentioning that the Serb officials of the two opposed factions warned the people to evade any possibility of clashes. The Greek press emphasises that the international forces openly took Plavsic's side and that they seized five police stations in Banjaluka, not specifying the number of soldiers, vehicles and helicopters used in these operations.
