NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic and deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Pierre Fasino concluded in Banja Luka that in RS is necessary as soon as possible to constitute parliament and government and establish good relations with the world. "Both geographically and historically Italy has a great interest for all events in this region and it does not divide RS into two parts, nor Banja Luka and Pale, but supports the democratic process and concept" - said Ms. Plavsic after the meeting.

SARAJEVO - The president in the Presidency of B&H from RS Momcilo Krajisnik stated that members of the Presidency in Sarajevo expressed gratitude to British premier Tony Blair for help and balanced politics of United Kingdom toward RS and B&H Federation. According to Mr.Blair, Great Britain during last few years had very even performance and treatment of problems which Serbs, Croats and Muslim from both entities had and still have.

SARAJEVO - Vice-presidents of RS government Aleksa Buha and Velibor Ostojic pointed out to officials of OSCE Richard Elerkman and Vladimir Kuznietsov the fact that certain number of ballots, which are coming from abroad into OSCE centre in Vienna, do not have necessary attached documentation. After the meeting in Pale, Buha emphasised that these ballots are being separated from others and will be checked again in Lukavica.

VIENNA - Gordan Milinic and Dragan Podinic, the supervisors of RS government in OSCE centre in Vienna forwarded protest to High deputy chief of OSCE mission Richard Elerkman because of revealed irregularities which cast doubt on regularity of whole voting process abroad on early parliamentary elections in RS. In the protest letter to Mr. Elerkman is precisely said that they have found three opened big boxes with unfulfilled original voting ballots, "during the last night's routine inspection of premises in which the ballots were sorted and processed". Milinic and Podinic addressed the OSCE Ambassador with certain questions which might clarify irregularities of voting in absentia.

SARAJEVO - The co-presiding of the Council of Ministers of B&H Boro Bosic talked in Sarajevo separately with premiers of Austria and Czech Republic Victor Klim and Vaclav Klaus about the political situation in B&H, with the special review on parliamentary elections in RS. Significant part of talks was dedicated to the possibilities of the economic cooperation of these countries with B&H, and in the framework of that also with RS.

SARAJEVO - The spokesman of the High international representative Simon Haselock conditioned the renewal of the work of Sarajevo studio of Serbian radio-TV "with elimination of direct political control over editorial policy and holding the international code which accepted all world TV- stations". Haselock as the condition for approving of resuming the work of Sarajevo studio mentioned the "establishing the mechanism for prevention of broadcasting the un-democratic programming".

BRCKO - The office of international supervisor for region of Brcko Robert Farrand denied the claims of the world press that at Sava bridge in this town, border crossing of RS towards Croatia, the freedom of movement is being limited and orders of supervisor are being violated. "Contrary to the reports of the world press, the situation at this bridge is regular, and passengers' and freight traffic is being carried without problems. Customs officials of RS and police, stationed at the bridge, are respecting supervisor's order about toll" - is said in the denial forwarded to SRNA.

BRCKO - The IPTF spokeswomen in Brcko Katy Laden stated that the cooperation with RS police in this city during last month has been "on the very high level" and she expressed her expectations that it will be the same in the future. Ms. Laden in her statement for SRNA emphasised that the process of reconstruction of police in the area under the supervision "is progressing" so the work plan and deployment of 230 policemen should be made in anticipated term, until December 13.

SARAJEVO - The failure of Biljana Plavsic in her attempt to break down the hardline authorities from Pale would be great embarrassment for U.S.A., which invested in her support millions of dollars and, reputation of NATO - assesses Los Angeles Times. The main task of Washington on recent elections was giving absolute support to Ms. Plavsic and her party in power struggle against ruling party SDS.

BRUSSELS - The NATO commander in Europe Wesley Clark stated in Brussels that size of international forces in B&H so far should not be reduced because the situation in the country is still unstable - reports Reuters. The American general added that any decision about extending of mandate of SFOR has to be made until March 1 next year and that SFOR should stay on the current level in Bosnia - with 34,000 soldiers from 36 countries.

RAMICI - The British premier Tony Blair assessed in Ramici near Banja Luka that it is necessary for SFOr to stay after their mandate expire in former B&H - reports AFP. "If we allow the continuation of cleansing and renewal of war, it would affect the whole world. Though your merits are not visible, your work is of vital importance for population and for stabilisation of peace in Europe" - said Mr. Blair addressing the British soldiers in SFOR.

SARAJEVO - Seven Ukrainian soldiers from SFOR, arrested at the end of October because illegal trade with alcohol and cigarettes, were returned in Ukraine, where they will be punished disciplinary - reports AFP. According to SFOR spokesman major Peter Clark, the Ukraine soldiers were arrested with one group of Croats during unloading the smuggled goods, which they transported in their trucks.

BONN - The German minister of Foreign Affairs Claus Kinkel committed himself in Bonn for "special status of Kosovo, with democratic principles" reports DPA according to Klaus Kinkel, " Kosovo cannot get independence nor hold current status".

NOVI SAD - The president of Regional Board of Serbian Radical Party /SRS/ for South Backa region Milorad Micic assessed in Novi Sad that on forthcoming presidential elections in Serbia Vojislav Seselj will get more confidence of national minorities in Vojvodina. "Our optimism is based on the fact that SRS candidate at last elections in Backi Petrovac won 7% of Slovak's votes, in Temerin, where Hungarian national minority is dominating one, five percent, and in Selenca inhabited exclusively by Slovaks even 25% of votes" - said Mircic.

BAGHDAD - The president of Russian Communist Party Genadiy Ziuganov stated in Bagdad at the meeting with president of Iraqi parliament Sadun Hamadi that his party supports the position of Iraq towards hegemony of U.S.A. and committed himself for repealing embargo over this Middle east country. According to the report of the agency INA, cited by AFP, Ziuganov explained that "Russia wants to develop the parliamentary, economic and industrial links with Iraq".
