NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - Representatives of the Coalition for B&H and the B&H Party of Democratic Changes (SDP) Sulejman Tihic and Smail Ibrahimpasic says at the 5th session of the RS National Assembly in Banjaluka that representatives of their parties would not participate in further work of the RS Assembly. The decision was made after a break asked for by Safet Bico, representative of the Coalition for B&H, and after voting on the Proposal of the Amendment on the Article 79, of the RS Constitution which RS Parliament did not adopt. Tihic said that a stance of the RS National Assembly Presidency was illegitimate one and that might influence negatively on the implementation of the election results at local level.

BANJALUKA - President of the RS Social-Liberal Party (SLS) Miodrag Zivanovic asked for the RS President Biljana Plavsic to call on all party leaders in order for a minimum of national interest of RS to be established. At the press-conference in Banjaluka Zivanovic said that the SLS was worry with a Serb national issue, carried out by politicians in RS and FRY.

BELGRADE - President of the Association of Serbs from Croatia Mihajlo Vucinic stated for SRNA that refugees from Croatia, currently in FRY, were disappointed in all factors authorized for return to Croatia. "I must say that FRY has not done enough and it could ask for more intensive return of Serbs" - said Vucinic. According to him in Croatia there are no minimum conditions for return of Serbs . "Croatian leadership urges on politics of ethnic cleansing - preventing return with complications with papers and permanent checking of war crimes" - said Vucinic.

BELGRADE - Serb Association from B&H will participate in organising of voting of refugees on the forthcoming election in September in B&H - said Secretary General of the Association, Pero Djurdjevic. "A way of organising of voting of refugees still has not been agreed" - said Djurdjevic - all details will be known by the end of May.

BANJALUKA - A mayor of Drvar Mile Marceta said in Banjaluka that during recent talks with President of the U.S. Bill Clinton and British Prime Minister Tony Blair in London, he was given firm promises that the international community would support safe return of Serb refugees in Drvar.

NEW YORK - Leaders of four religious communities in B&H issued in New York "Statement on joint moral obligations", in which every type of religious persecution and misuse of human rights is condemned and calls on "permanent peace based on truth, justice and tolerance". On behalf of the Orthodox community, joint statement signed metropolitan Dabro-Bosnia Mr. Nikolaj, Islamic community Mustafa Ceric and on behalf of Jewish community Jakob Finci. All representatives supported implementation of the civil part of the Dayton Peace Accord.

AMSTERDAM - Authorities in Sarajevo, in 1995, adapted Islamic infrastructure for easer managing with NATO and the IFOR had hidden number of clashes of British soldiers with mojahedins in January 1996 - is said in a book "Somebody call it peace" by Josef Brodanski, director of Congress Group for terrorism in the U.S. Presidential House. The third Army corps was officially dismissed in January 1996 and then turned into a training unit where former mojahedins, who were already Bosnian citizens, were training Muslim soldiers. The first group of 1,000 Bosnian muslims started with training in November in 1995 in order for be replacement for mojahedins transferred in other units through out the country and Arab Corps commander Abu Mali was replaced by Bosnian Muslim brigadier general Sakib Mahmuljin.

BELGRADE - The B&H coat of arms, as a solution, looks better than a flag but a vassal principle is confirmed on it - stated a well known heraldic from Belgrade Dragomir Acovic. "It is imposed coat of arms. As in the case with a flag, its biggest weakness is that it says nothing about the country it refers to. Those who made it did not hide that they did not want on a B&H coat of arms and flag B&H traits" - said Acovic.

BELGRADE - His Holiness Serb Patriarch Mr. Pavle had talks in Belgrade Patriarchy with the Montenegro President Milo Djukanovic and President of the Assembly Svetozar Marovic. The meeting was attended by Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Coast, Bishop Artemije of Rashka and Prizren and Bishop Sava of Shumadija, and it was held behind closed doors. They were discussing current situation in Kosovo and situation in FRY after dismissal of the FRY Prime Minister Radoje Kontic, SRNA has learned from the Patriarchy.

BANJALUKA - President of the Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly Dragan Kalinic adjourned second continuation of the 5th session because of lack of quorum and third continuation and the 6th session he announced for June. Representatives adopted unanimously decisions on establishing of proposals of the RS power balance for 1998 and programmes of statistical research important for RS in 1998. It has been decided that the National Assembly, on the request of the B&H Presidency chairman Alija Izetbegovic, give authorisation to the Commission for Constitutional Issues to prepare information on concord of the RS and B&H Constitution and deliver it to the B&H Constitutional Court. Kalinic said that he was not please with course and results of the session. "We failed to prove that we are capable to organise the forthcoming election in September", said Kalinic. Everything regarding election is now in suspense. President of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Delegates Club Aleksa Buha expressed regret because proposal of the SDS and the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) for election to be held according to the RS law with the OSCE supervision has not been accepted. Speaking about the initiative for change of the RS Constitution in order for make possible election of third vice-president of the Assembly, Buha said that there was no need for that because ruling Assembly's majority, in accordance with given promises, could have appointed on that place a representative of the Coalition for Whole and Democratic B&H. President of the Delegates Clubs of the RS Socialist Party Zeljko Mirjanic said that at the session election campaign of some parties was in the act.

CLEVELAND - The RS President Biljana Plavsic stated in Cleveland that source should care about three millions of Serbs in Diaspora who, during the war, were giving support to its people. "Whole national life of Serbs in the U.S. is happening within Church. I admire them for that" - said Biljana Plavsic.

SARAJEVO - President in the B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik congratulated to Prime Minister of the Federal Government Momir Bulatovic and members of his Cabinet on their election. "FRY has got adequate Government which would secure quick renewal and political stability in the future. Now you have responsible task to establish unity of FRY", - said Krajisnik.

BELGRADE - Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Coast and Bishop Artemije of Rashka and Prizren stated that Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic did not accept an invitation of His Holiness Serb Patriarch Mr. Pavle to have talks in Kosmet. "We think that such kind of attitude is not proper and does not contribute to a true dialogue and solving of our crucial questions", said Metropolitan Amfilohije at the press-conference in Belgrade adding that he hopes that Milosevic will explain his reasons for that decision.

PRISTINA - District Attorney's Office in Pec submitted requests for inquiry against Mehmet Redzo,35, from the village of Ponosevac near Djakovica under suspicion that he committed crime of terrorism and Hatidza Avdulji,45, from the village of Sisman for preparing "a crime of terrorism". SRNA correspondent reported that Redza made a confession that along with his father Uko and uncle Ibrahim on May 3 he participated in the attack on policemen in the village of Ponosevac.

PRISTINA - The U.S. Ambassador to BJRM Christopher Hill had talks in Pristina with members of the G-15 group, consisted of Albanians from Kosovo, on tomorrow's session with a delegation of Republic of Serbia. "What we want is a real progress. Situation is very bad and improvement must be made with concrete ideas" - said Hill.

SREBRENICA - President of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly Stanko Rakic supported conclusion of the RS National Assembly about implementation of the local election results and establishing of authority in the Municipality assessing it as real. That proved actions of the local authorities in Srebrenica as valid, after representatives of the Coalition for Whole and Democratic B&H because of playing of the RS national anthem had left the session.
