[01] Kasoulides flies to Athens
Larnaca, Nov 7 (CNA) -- The Foreign Minister left today for Athens where he
will have talks with his Greek counterpart, Theodoros Pangalos, on a range
of issues including the meeting between the Greek and Turkish Premiers, in
Crete earlier this week.
In statements earlier today, FM Ioannis Kasoulides said they will talk
about Cyprus' accession course to the European Union (EU), the recent
reinforcement of the Turkish occupation troops and a visit here Monday by
US presidential emissary for Cyprus, Richard Holbrooke.
Holbrooke, who brokered the Bosnian deal, will pay his first visit here,
since his appointment, between November 10 and 11. He will first have
separate meetings with the leaders of the two communities and then hold a
joint meeting.
Last week Turkey brought more armaments to the part of the island it
occupies since its 1974 invasion, using the pretext of a military exercise
it held which included manoeuvres in the occupied areas.
