London, Mar 8 (CNA) -- Britain's Shadow Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary Francis Maud has said that the Conservatives support a bicommunal, bizonal federation in Cyprus, in accordance with UN resolutions.

Maud, who will be in Cyprus next week, also said Britain by itself cannot procure a settlement in Cyprus but it can use friendly persuasion in the direction of Turkey with regard to the effort for a solution.

Refugee women - Message to Turkish Cypriot women

Nicosia, Mar 8 (CNA) - Greek Cypriot women, displaced since the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, have extended a hand of friendship to Turkish Cypriot women to join forces for a better Cyprus for their children.

The message of the Refugee Women's Association of Cyprus, conveyed through the UN, calls for a joint effort to build a world of happiness and hope, where peace and security will reign, and stresses that the wall of intolerance and separation, that cuts Cyprus in two, must be demolished.
