    [01] President Clerides - Alvaro De Soto

    Nicosia, Sep 3 (CNA) -- UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Cyprus Alvaro De Soto was received this morning by Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides. Later in the morning he will meet Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, in the Turkish- occupied part of Cyprus.

    Alvaro De Soto, who is holding, during his eight-day visit on the island (August 29 - September 5), separate consultations with Clerides and Denktash, aiming at the resumption of UN-led talks on the Cyprus question, refrained from making any statements after the 45-minute meeting at the Presidential palace.

    [02] Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Sep 3 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 4/9/2001 to 5/9/2001

    The weather on Tuesday and Wednesday will be mainly fine with temporal cloud during afternoon probably giving isolated light showers over the mountains and inland.

    Sea breeze is expected moderate to strong 4 to 5bf on Tuesday but weakening Wednesday. Light katabatic winds will prevail during night.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 6/9/2001 to 7/9/2001

    The weather on Thursday will be fine.

    On Friday the weather is expected unstable, with local showers and temporal thunderstorm. The temperature will note a furter fall. Sea Temperature: 27C CNA/GP/2001

    [03] Cyprus - IUGB Congress

    Nicosia, Sep 3 (CNA -- Cyprus' southern coastal town of Limassol hosts as from today the 25th International Congress of the International Union of Game Biologists (ÉUGB) organised along with the 9th International Perdix Symposium, to be opened on Thursday, by the Cyprus Interior Ministry and Game and Fauna Service.

    The two conferences, attended by some 300 delegates from 39 countries will address the problem of wild life management in the 21st century and focus on studies pertaining animals, wild birds, pheasants, partridges, quails and francolins.
