    [02] Chris Barnard - Autopsy - Funeral

    Nicosia, Sep 3 (CNA) -- The world renown heart surgeon, Chris Barnard, who died Sunday in the holiday resort of Paphos at the age of 78, will be buried in his home town, Beaufort West, in the Western Cape, the South African embassy announced today.

    Meanwhile in Paphos, it was announced that the autopsy will take place Tuesday by state pathologist Eleni Antoniou, in the presence of foreign colleagues. CNA/SS/MM/RM/2001

    [03] President Clerides - Indian High Commissioner - Credentials

    Nicosia, Sep 3 (CNA) -- India will always support the independence, unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Cyprus, and gives its full backing to President Galfcos Clerides' commitment to find a settlement through dialogue, Indian High Commissioner to Cyprus Shri Pavan Varma said today as he presented his credentials and described Cyprus as a "valuable and trusted friend" whose cooperation and support is much appreciated.

    Receiving the credentials, President Clerides said India should assume the role and position it deserves in world affairs and noted the common historical bonds the two countries share. He said he expects the Turkish Cypriot side to return to the negotiating table and abandon its intransigent positions to help find a settlement, based on UN resolutions and respect of international law.
