[01] FREE GAZA MISSION
A mission of the Free Gaza Movement intends to travel to the war torn
Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid, members of the missions said.
Members of the movement, who are accompanied on their mission to set
sail on Sunday - by two members of the Greek Parliament as well as
doctors and journalists, visited today President of the House of
Representatives Marios Garoyian who conveyed the support of the people
of Cyprus and the political world in this venture.
This is a purely humanitarian effort, an attempt to send clear messages
to the international community that we can no longer accept the killing
of innocent children and civilians, he said adding that problems cannot
be solved with the use of force, pain or death but through dialogue,
stability and insistence on principles and adherence to international
law.
Garoyian called for an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza, to give
the opportunity for a dialogue and for humanitarian aid to those who
need it. He also urged Israel to allow the boat through since it is
taking humanitarian aid and it contains no terrorists or arms.
Free Gaza representative Vangelis Pissias told reporters that the
mission will transport humanitarian aid and added: our action refuses
to accept the logic of war and violence.
Pissias said that if we do not manage to reach Gaza, it will not be our
own fault but because others have stopped us in a way which is contrary
to principles of justice.
