  • [01] CMP - TURKISH ACTOR

Gulden Plumer Kucuk, the Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP), has said that she has additional responsibilities to locate and contact the Turkish actor who confessed killing ten Greek Cypriots during the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

Commenting on the confession of Attila Olgac, who served in Cyprus during the invasion, Kucuk said that the terms of the CMP`s mission did not include investigations regarding those who committed murders and under which circumstances.

Kucuk added that an investigation would be carried out to determine if Olgac knows where the persons he referred to were buried.

``As the Turkish Cypriot member of the CMP, I have more responsibilities regarding this issue,`` she said, adding that she would be acting responsibly, according to her obligations towards the CMP.

    [02] SEWERAGE PLANT - AGREEMENT

Mayor of Nicosia Eleni Mavrou and so-called mayor of the Turkish occupied part of Nicosia Cemal Bulutoglulari signed an agreement on Friday for the construction of a new sewerage treatment plant in Mia Milia, a village in the Turkish occupied areas.

Mavrou told CNA that the agreement provides for the procedure for the construction of the plant, the cost, the sharing of the sum and management.

She added that the project will replace the existing plant in Mia Milia and the total cost of its replacement will reach about 30 million euros.

The new sewerage treatment plant will serve 200,000 people in the government controlled areas of the Republic.
