[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: Rise

Equity priceswere rising at the opening of trading Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the general share price index up 1.39 percent at 2,801.83 points at 11:10 a.m., and turnover at 15.3 million euros or 5.2 billion drachmas.

Individual sector indices were moving upward acros the board, with the biggest gains in Textiles, up 3.32 percent; Wholesale, up 2.37 percent; Construction, up 2.02 percent; and Banks, up 1.68 percent.

The FTSE/ASE-20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 1.42 percent; the FTSE/ASE-40 index for medium capitalisation paper was up 1.28 percent; and the FTSE/ASE-80 index for small cap equities was up 2.13 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 260 were up, 15 were down and 31 were unchanged.

Rain and storms are forecast in most parts of Greece on Monday. Local cluding is expected in western Greece, turning to rain and local showers, mainly in the northwest, while local cloud forecast for Crete, the Cyclades and the Dodecanese. Winds variable.
