[01] PM Samaras: 'Austerity measures not an end in themselves'
AMNA -- "All of Europe now realises that something must be done,"
especially in order to address youth unemployment and generate growth,
Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said on Friday in statements after
the European Union summit.
The Greek prime minister stressed that austerity measures were "not an
end in themselves" and that Europe's leaders now recognised the problem of
youth unemployment, especially, as well as the need to combine austerity
with measures for growth, for social cohesion and to create jobs for
young people.
He said the emphasis must be on reforms to boost economic competitiveness
but also social cohesion.amna
