[01] EU Commissioner Avramopoulos pleased that migration will feature prominently on the agenda of Estonian presidencyThe visit of EU Commisioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos in Tallinn, Estonia, on Monday focused on migration and security.Estonia took up the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2017. "I was pleased to hear from the Minister that all these issues will feature prominently on the political agenda of the Estonian presidency," Avramopoulos said. Avramopoulos visited EU-LISA here in Tallinn – the EU Agency that manages our large information Systems in the area of borders, migration and security. [02] Refugees and migrants continue to arrive on the Aegean islands; 11,372 have sought asylumFourty three refugees were rescued late Monday by a Frontex patrol vessel in the sea region southeast of Samos island. Strong winds were blowing in the area.A total of 273 migrants and refugees arrived on the Greek islands in the last four days (Friday to Tuesday morning, 158 of them reached the coasts of Samos, 111 arrived on Lesvos and only four on the island of Chios. According to police, the number of persons that have sought asylum and are stranded on the Aegean islands reached 11,372 on Tuesday. (5,324 on Lesvos, 4,126 on Chios and 1,922 on Samos).
