[03] Potami leader on Turkish provocations: Keep calm, set up national security councilGreece has to remain calm in the face of continued provocations by Turkish officials and prepare for any eventuality by setting up a national security council which will shape national policy on major issues, Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis said on Saturday, speaking to Flash96 radio station."I believe we must stay calm, because I hear a lot of jittery talk. Greece is not threatened, Greece remains a strong country and remains a country in the EU and NATO and therefore we must not create panic in society," Theodorakis said. "Of course, we must be prepared on a national level. That is precisely why we proposed the creation of a National Security Council, where all the defining decisions for the country will be taken. National issues should not be handled solely by the party that governs. National issues must have majorities of 80 percent. We cannot panic because Erdogan makes a statement, but on the other hand we must not ignore it," he added. Athens News Agency: News in English Directory - Previous Article - Next Article |
