They discussed issues such as the Greek-turkish relations, the Cyprus dispute as well as Turkey's request for a considerable increase in American economic aid to Ankara. Commenting on statements by the Turkish prime minister about a package solution on the Aegean and Cyprus, the Greek government spokesman Dimitris Reppas has said that the Cyprus problem is an internaitonal problem and should not be linked to Greek-turkish relations. Mr Reppas said that Greece and Turkey could easily handle their problems if both countries took advantage of the international law. He added that as regards the Aegean, Turkey has been advised to have recourse at the International Court at the Hague. Mr Reppas also said that statements by Turkush officials indicated that Ankara still adhered to stands which did not allow any optimism for a Cyprus settlement.
