giving figures. ''Turkey which had to buy everything from a needle to a

establish the industry, Demirel explained. However, the times have changed,
and today the government must withdraw itself from trade and industry, he
noted. President Demirel said Turkey had very successful enterpreneurs who
do business all around the world, therefore today's economic difficulties
are temporary. He pointed out that the first decade of 2000's was very
critical. ''If we miss the train in the next ten years, it would be very
difficult for us to catch it again. This is a train of development and
democracy,'' he said. He also called on businessmen from Sivas who work in
big metropols to invest in their hometowns. ''We have bright days ahead of
us. Continue to have faith in yourself, in our country and democracy,'' he
said. Husnu Yusuf Gokalp, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs who

power, there is an increasing efficiency to capture criminals. Some circles
do not want to see it but the cooperation between security and intelligence
units greatly increased our state's power in this field. I hope murderers
of Ahmet Taner Kislali would also be found before too long.'' When asked if
he had any solid information about who was behind Kislali's murder, Ecevit
declined to answer by saying it would not be right to make an explanation
before the investigation is finalized. Regarding a report prepared about
Fethullah Gulen's schools by Prime Ministry Follow-up Council, Ecevit said
the report covered not only Gulen's schools but all private institutions.
Ecevit also said the Chief of General Staff Directorate postponed the
Republic Day celebrations due to the quake disaster. He said he would meet
