    [01] Cyprus - EU parliamentary committee - Meeting

    Nicosia, Oct 9 (CNA) - Deputies from Cyprus and the European Parliament are meeting in Brussels today and tomorrow to discuss issues pertaining Cyprus' accession course.

    The Joint EU-Cyprus Parliamentary Committee, which meets twice a year, will deal with the situation in Cyprus, EU-Cyprus relations, membership negotiations and the Intergovenmental Conference.

    [02] Russian Foreign Minister - Visit - Postponed

    Nicosia, Oct 9 (CNA) - An official visit to Cyprus by Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov has been postponed, it was officially announced here today.

    No reason was given for the decision to postpone the visit.

    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Oct 9 (CNA) -- According to the Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport, the weather forecast for Cyprus is:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 10/10/2000 to 11/10/2000

    Weather: Unstable with showers and isolated thunderstorms Wind: Southwesterly light to moderate at night, moderate to fresh in the afternoon. Temperature: maximum 27C, minimum 16C.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 12/10/2000 to 13/10/2000

    Mainly fine with probability of isolated showers. No significant change in temperature is expected.

    Sea Temperature: 24°C

    [04] Spokesman – UN top envoy

    Nicosia, Oct 9 (CNA) – UN Special Adviser for Cyprus Alvaro de Soto is due in Cyprus on 22 October for a five-day visit, in anticipation of the resumption of UN-led peace talks in early November in Geneva.

    Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said he will be received by President Glafcos Clerides and have meetings with parliamentary party leaders.
