    Belgium hopes solution will remain a priority for Cyprus government

    Nicosia, Jul 10 (CNA) -- The Belgian Government hopes that the search for a solution will continue to be a priority for the Cyprus Government, and that the European family will provide an auspicious framework to achieve that goal, the first Belgian Ambassador with a permanent residence in Nicosia Colette Taquet said on Friday, presenting her credentials to Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos.

    Sierra Leone supports Cyprus sovereignty

    Nicosia, Jul 10 (CNA) -- New High Commissioner of the Republic of Sierra Leone, stationed in London, Alhaji Sulaiman Tejan-Jalloh reaffirmed the full support and respect of his country's Government for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus in accordance with all relevant UN resolutions.

    ''In this regard the Government and people of Sierra Leone continue to recognise the Republic of Cyprus as the only Cypriot state. That policy still remains at the heart of the relationship between our two friendly countries,'' Tejan-Jalloh said, at the ceremony on Friday during which he presented his credentials to Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos.

    Cyprus President: EU accession provides ground for solution

    Nicosia, Jul 10 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos expressed on Friday the conviction that the accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union provides the necessary ground for a solution in accordance with the UN resolutions and in line with the European principles and values.

    Washington, July 10 (CNA) -- State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher said the United States plan on providing $30.5 million in the fiscal year 2004 to aid ''the economic development of northern Cyprus and the economic integration on the island in support of eventual reunification''.
